Cross Border Permits
Cross Border Permits are issued according to the Cross Border Road Transport Act,1998 and amendments.
Cross Border Permits
A transportation permit is required in order to cross the border carrying goods or passengers to neighboring countries included in the South African Customs Union Agreement.
This includes BOTSWANA, LESOTHO, SWAZILAND as well as agreements with NAMIBIA, MALAWI, MOZAMBIQUE, ZAMBIA AND ZIMBABWE.
Each of these neighboring countries charges additional fees such as Road User Charges, insurance etc.
We can assist in obtaining the Cross Border Permits and provide you with info of all charges payable to the neighboring countries.
Abnormal Vehicle (AV) Registrations
An Abnormal Vehicle Registration is required once you exceed the legal mass limits. By obtaining an AV the maximum axle limit of your vehicle combination is calculated, enabling you to exceed the legal limits up to the maximum on the AV.
Abnormal Vehicle (AV) Registrations
Exemption permit for mass will still be required for each load exceeding the legal mass limit.
We can assist in obtaining the AV registration, as well as obtaining Approval in Principle (required by manufacturer or importer before building or importing an abnormal vehicle) and Special Classification (to enable a reduced licence fee of an Abnormal Vehicle).
It is advisable to contact us prior to any decision taken to buy/import an abnormal vehicle/mobile crane.
This also includes AV registration for the different categories of Mobile cranes.
